Raiders Win Latest Case In Ongoing Battle With City Of Oakland

A Sacramento Superior Court judge ruled yesterday that the panel that oversaw the deal to return the NFL´s Raiders to Oakland was a private entity and not a public one.

It´s an important ruling because it hurts attempts by the Oakland and Alameda County to have the Raiders´ lawsuit invalidated. The Raiders sued the city and county after the team alleged public officials lied when they allegedly assured sold out stadiums when the Raiders returned to Oakland from Los Angeles in 1995.

Judge Joe Gray also ordered the city and county to pay more than 45 thousand dollars in costs to Raiders´ attorneys for failing to comply with court orders to produce documents requested by the team.
