UC Merced Groundbreaking Delayed

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new University of California campus at Merced has been delayed. Officials will have the ceremony in September instead of May partly because of a lawsuit filed by some environmental groups. The groups say the new campus will cause irreparable harm to the environment and have filed a lawsuit to stop construction. University officials say the delay won´t affect the campus´ opening date in 2004.
