Judge: Defendants Created Own Hostile Atmosphere

The judge in the dog mauling case says murder charges might not have been filed had the defendants demonstrated remorse and acknowledged their responsibility in public.

Superior Court Judge James Warren revealed this morning in Los Angeles that an expert hired by the defense in the early days of the case came to that very conclusion.

Warren says he is releasing the information in response to defense attorney Nedra Ruiz´s claim that San Francisco District Attorney Terrence Hallinan stirred up public opinion against the defendants.

In actuality, the judge says, the report by the defense expert shows the defendants created an atmosphere of hostility against themselves.
