Bodies Were Those Of Kidnap Victims
Federal prosecutors say five people whose bodies were pulled from New Melones Lake were Los Angeles-area residents kidnapped for ransom, and then killed by Russian mobsters.
The victims included two filmmakers, an accountant, an electronics executive and a home builder.
U-S Attorney Los Angeles office spokesman Thom Mrozek says more than five-and-one-half million dollars had been demanded of relatives.
Six men of Russian descent are held without bond, charged in indictments with hostage-taking or receiving ransom money in connection with some of the victims.
