Jazzy Scheme To Take Festival Dough

A former organizer of the Sacramento Jazz Festival has been charged with stealing nearly $150,000 through a bank fraud scheme.

Federal prosecutors say 46-year-old James Walker Watson Junior of Los Angeles deposited $150,000 worth of checks written by his mother into bank accounts used by the festival and then withdrew a comparable amount even though he knew his mother did not enough money in her account to cover the checks.

He faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a million dollar fine if convicted.
