Construction on a steel,single-lane bridge over Blue Creek in the Stanislaus National Forest will replace an aging log bridge built as a temporary replacement on Forest Road 7-N-28. That bridge was destroyed in the 1997 storms.
Calaveras District Ranger Rob Griffith says construction will begin Monday, April 29, and continue through late July. The construction is part of a cooperative road management program that exists between the Forest Service and Sierra Pacific Industries.
An alternate route using Winton Road will be made available for local traffic and emergency vehicles. Griffith said detailed maps depicting the alternate routes around the bridge construction are available at the Calaveras Ranger Station along Highway 4 in Hathaway Pines.
