In a breaking story we are following this afternoon…U.S. Forest Service firefighters have discovered the wreckage of a single-engine fixed wing aircraft in the area of Akerson Meadow, about 3 miles south of Camp Mather near Yosemite National Park.
Fire fighters responded to a report of a vegetation fire around 2:30 this afternoon. While fighting the blaze, crews made the discovery.
US forest Service spokesman Pat Kaunert says it´s as yet unconfirmed, but there could possibly be at least one fatality in this plane crash.
The fire was at about 1 acre in size at around 4 p.m. this afternoon Additional firefighting resources were enroute.
He says no structures or communities are threaten by the fire at this time.
