Firefighters discovered the wreckage of a single-engine fixed wing aircraft in the area of Akerson Meadow, about 3 miles south of Camp Mather near Yosemite National Park.
Firefighters made the discovery when they responded to the fire around 2:30 Monday afternoon.
It´s as yet unconfirmed, but there could be fatalities in this plane crash. Tuolumne County Sheriffs Deputies are investigating. The Federal Aviation Administration investigators will arrive in the area Tuesday morning.
US forest Service spokesman Pat Kaunert says the fire was held to about 2 acres.
Additional firefighting resources from CDF were on scene. Kaunert says crews are making good progress on the fire, but no containment time has been set at this time.
