Federal investigators say a small plane crash killed two occupants and started a 1 1/2-acre wildfire yesterday afternoon in the Akerson Meadow area 3 miles south of Camp Mather.
The Tuolumne County coroner has not yet identified the occupants of the Cessna aircraft and the cause of the crash is not immediately known.
Forest service firefighters extinguished the fire after the crash Monday near Yosemite National Park. The wreckage was found about a half-hour later by Forest Service employees. The plane was destroyed by the fire.
