Cogdill Bill Will Help Cut Forest Fire Danger
Legislation that would provide greater flexibility with regard to prescribed burns passed in the Assembly yesterday.
Modesto Assemblyman Dave Cogdill€™s bill allows agencies such as the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the U.S. Forest Service more discretion in determining when and where to conduct prescribed burns.
Cogdill says, “Fuel loading is one of the most critical problems facing the state. The less managed a forest, the more likely a catastrophic fire is to occur.”
AB 2381 is now headed for the Senate where it will be heard by a policy committee.
