Show-n-Tell Funny Money Lands Modesto Man In Jail
A Modesto man isn´t laughing after his little grandson helped land him in jail when he took about a thousand dollars worth of funny money to school.
Police said yesterday they were called by school officials after the five-year-old kindergartner and his seven-year-old sister showed the money to classmates.
The siblings told police on Tuesday that they took only a few bills from the pile stored in grandpa´s van.
Police found Jose Luis Landeras a few hours later – stuffing materials for making money down his pants.
He was booked for investigation of making counterfeit money. Police confiscated two-thousand dollars in phony bills.
Police coaxed the boy into telling them about the money when they asked what games he and his grandfather liked to play. The boy´s favorite game was “Frogger.” He said his grandpa´s favorite was the “money-making game.”
