A massive wildfire in northern Los Angeles County has now consumed more than 10,000 acres and forced the
evacuation of hundreds of residents.
L.A. County Fire Inspector Armando Carrillo says five to seven homes have been destroyed, along with seven outbuildings. Five firefighters have been injured – those injuries said to be minor.
Seven-hundred firefighters are battling the blaze which began yesterday near Saugus. It is being pushed toward the community of Green Valley by 15 mile-an-hour winds. Evacuation centers have been set up at Lake Elizabeth Golf Course, Saugus High School in Saugus and and Highland High School in Palmdale.
SoCal Edison says heat from the blaze caused one major power line to shut down and a second major line in the area is at risk.
