A wildfire is still raging out of control in northern Los Angeles County. The blaze has consumed 15-thousand acres near Saugus, burned at least five homes and forced about two-thousand people to flee the Green Valley and Warm Springs areas. At one point, the blaze threatened to trigger rolling blackouts as it burned under power lines supplying Southern California. But a spokesman for Southern California Edison says the threat of blackouts passed by evening as the fire began to burn away from the lines. The American Red Cross has set up evacuation centers in Saugus and Palmdale.
Six firefighters have been injured. The cause of the fire is not known, but authorities consider it suspicious. It is just five percent contained.
