San Jose Gets Serious About Graffiti

San Jose Police are going high-tech in the fight against graffiti. They have installed motion-sensitive devices that first flash a warning light when a would-be vandal is near. Then a tape plays a recording that warns: “Stop. You´re trespassing. Your photo has been taken and will be used to prosecute you. Leave now.” The devices then quickly take three photos. They can also take the photos before the warning or while it´s being played. The police also have a video camera that films the vandals and sends a warning signal to police. San Jose Police Sergeant Paul Pagnoli says Los Angeles and San Francisco are using the cameras, too.
