Two drivers were arrested on driving under the influence charges in Calaveras County yesterday.
Margie Soracco of Wilseyville nearly hit a Calaveras County Sheriffs patrol car head-on on Rail Road Flat Road near the South Fork Mokelumne River Bridge. Deputies say Soracco was driving on the wrong side of the road at the time of the near-miss. She then tried to evade deputies on River View Road, but lost control of her Camaro and high centered it on a dirt berm. She was arrested for D.U.I. by CHP officers.
The Highway Patrol reports 19 year old Valley Springs resident Bradon Pitkin suffered major injuries when he lost control of his Honda while turning onto Baldwin Lane from Highway 26, hitting a dirt embankment.
An unidentified passenger fled the accident scene on foot and is still at large. Pitkin was flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment. Officers arrested him at the hospital for DUI.
