Firefighters Injured In Southern California Wildfire
A wildfire in the San Bernardino National Forest has jumped the Cajon Pass, closing Interstate 15, the main road between California and Las Vegas. Smoke and flames have overrun two fire engine crews battling the blaze, leaving three firefighters injured.
A fire spokeswoman says an unknown number of firefighters had to deploy their emergency shelters. The firefighters were to be taken to Saint Bernardine Hospital to be stabilized and then transferred to a burn center in Los Angeles.
The 4,400-acre fire that began Sunday flared up again Monday afternoon. It first closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 15. All lanes are now closed.
