The Stanislaus county Coroner´s office is taking over investigation of human bones found at a Modesto construction site. The bones could be 10 to 15 years old, or could be hundreds of years old, according to a U.C. Santa Cruz analysis.
The dirt in which the two boys found them last week was hauled to the site from Merced County, and could be from a Native American burial ground. The Coroner´s office and Bureau of Indian Affairs will determine the ultimate disposition of the dirt.
Meanwhile, the construction site on Merle Avenue has been sealed off until the investigation is finished.
