The California Native American Heritage Commission is expected to take over investigation into human remains found at a Modesto construction site earlier this month.
The Stanislaus County Coroner has decided that the remains are likely those of a Native American, and must be re-interred in compliance with state law. A set of teeth that turned up Friday morning will be examined Monday by a Forensic Anthropologist at U.C. Santa Cruz. If they´re confirmed to be Native American, the Commission will take over the case.
