Los Angeles prosecutors have dropped charges against two Russian nationals accused in a kidnap-for-ransom scheme in exchange for their testimony. Another five foreign nationals still face charges. They´re accused of kidnapping five people from the Los Angeles area and killing them as part of an extortion scheme. The bodies were pulled from New Melones reservoir in October and March. Prosecutors say the kidnappers targeted rich Russian immigrants and abducted two of the victims in an attempt to gain access to their wealthy friends and business partners. If convicted, they could face the death penalty.
