A big sinkhole has swallowed part of eastbound Interstate 80 near Dixon. The Highway Patrol reported traffic Friday afternoon was backed up for about nine miles.
The hole measures six feet by nine feet and goes from one foot to four feet deep. It was reported around 11 a.m. just east of the Highway 113 southbound ramp.
Caltrans is still trying to figure out what caused the hole and what they need to do to fix it. The CHP recommends avoiding the area if travel plans take you to the area.
