Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger urged Californians today to support his proposal for a constitutional amendment that would prohibit deficit spending by the state.
The governor spoke to hundreds of supporters at a rally at a shopping center in downtown San Diego. He said that in order for his proposal to make it onto the March ballot, state lawmakers must approve it by this Friday. He called on his supporters to phone their representatives to ask for their quick approval.
The governor said his proposal – called the “Never Again Spending Limit” – would keep the state from spending more money than it takes in.
Scwarzenegger´s appearance at Horton Plaza was his first in San Diego since taking office.
