Ten of the 94 California Indian tribes that have or want casinos say they are willing to negotiate with Governor Schwarzenegger.
The new governor made obtaining a “fair share” of their gambling profits a key campaign promise.
The 10 say they are open to giving the state a portion of the revenue that would be produced if they are allowed to operate additional slot machines.
The 10 were among 21 tribes that made a similar offer to former Governor Davis. He had little luck negotiating with the tribes before he was recalled by voters.
Schwarzenegger spokesmen aren´t immediately commenting.
