New Appointments From Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger has named Democrat Sunne Wright McPeak as his Business, Transportation and Housing secretary and conservationist Terry Tamminen as secretary of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Although the vast majority of the appointments so far to the new administration have been Republicans, with the latest action Schwarzenegger has named Democrats or independents to four critical posts.
While some believe bringing such a diverse group together may be difficult to manage, others say it might fit Schwarzenegger who has said that he is both a fiscal conservative and moderate on social issues. Also appointed were James Branham, a former executive with Pacific Lumber, to serves as EPA undersecretary; and Maureen Gorsen, a former member of Governor Pete Wilson’s administration as the agency’s deputy secretary.
