Jets From San Diego

The mystery of two fighter planes buzzing Tuolumne County is over.

The fast-moving jets were F/A-18 Hornets from the Marine Corps´ oldest and most decorated active fighter attack squadron, the Squadron 232 “Red Devils,” from Miramar Marine Air Station in San Diego County.

In a follow-up article published in the Modesto Bee Thursday morning, Air base Staff Sgt. John DiDomenico said by phone, “All I can tell you is that it was a cross-country training mission.”

Two weeks ago the low flying miliary aircraft caused some panic among residents in Jamestown and Sonora.
