Caltrans has received enough funding to hire 78 temporary workers to help remove snow this winter in the Lake Tahoe area.
While the number is down sharply from past years, Caltrans officials say they think the Tahoe area won´t be adversely affected. If the 78 workers aren´t enough, they say they will bring in workers from other districts. Plans call for Interstate 80 over Donner Summit to remain a top priority.
A search is under way for workers, including equipment operators, dispatchers and chain control workers.
