A new poll released today shows that a growing majority of voters want to replace Governor Davis with Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday´s historic election.
The Field Research poll found that 57 percent of likely voters want to recall the governor, up from 55 percent three weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger is surging ahead of the throng of candidates trying to replace Davis. The Republican candidate has a 10 point lead over Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, who is the leading Democrat in the race. That´s a change from last month, when Bustamante enjoyed a brief period at the head of the race, with 32 percent of voters´ support against Schwarzenegger´s 27 percent.
The poll was conducted before the Los Angeles Times revealed accusations of misconduct with women.
