With four days to go before the California recall vote, there are new problems for frontrunner Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Republican actor held a late night news conference in Los Angeles to respond to news reports that he once said he admired Adolph Hitler.
ABC says he made the comment during the filming of “Pumping Iron” in 1975. Schwarzenegger now says he doesn´t remember it and says he thinks Hitler was “a disgusting villain.”
Earlier in the day, Schwarzenegger admitted that, in the past, he sometimes “behaved badly” toward women and he apologized.
The Los Angeles Times reported accusations by six women who say he groped them over the past 30 years.
Kelly Hayes-Raitt of the California Women’s Law Center says those cases can’t be prosecuted but thinks the publicity will generate fresh cases.
