The Contra Costa County Coroner´s office is examining several bones reportedly found near the spot where Laci Peterson´s remains washed ashore.
Investigators have not determined whether the bones are human, and a forensic anthropologist will test them in the next few days.
A Richmond woman says she discovered the bones several weeks ago along the shore of San Francisco Bay. She apparently took the bones home and stored them in a plastic container until calling Modesto police Monday. Peterson´s badly decomposed body was found in April, soon after the body of her unborn son was discovered just over a mile away.
Her husband, Scott Peterson, has pleaded innocent to two counts of murder in the deaths. A preliminary hearing scheduled for October 20th.
