It´s nearly a coin toss as to whether Governor Gray Davis will be voted out of office in next month´s recall election. The latest Los Angeles Times poll finds 47 percent of voters want to let Davis stay, and about 50 percent want to oust him.
Davis´ camp says this is good news and a sign that the recall movement is fading.
Meanwhile, there´s also some movement among those running to replace Davis.
Democratic frontrunner and Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante is still ahead of all other candidates, but that lead has narrowed. The Times poll indicates 30 percent of likely voters would choose Bustamante, compared with 25 percent for Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger and 18 percent for Republican Tom McClintock.
McClintock has shown the greatest surge in numbers in the past month.
