Peter Ueberroth´s withdrawal from the recall election might not make much of a difference.
A Field Poll released today finds Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante each picked up two percentage points with Ueberroth out of the mix.
Bustamante went from 30 percent of the vote to 32 percent, and Schwarzenegger went from 25 percent to 27 percent. State Senator Tom McClintock took one percent, going from 13 percent to 14 percent.
The poll finds that the state´s troubled economy dominates voter concerns. In recent years, schools, health care, and crime were at the top of the list of concerns. The poll also finds that a solid majority of voters– 59 percent– disapprove of a law allowing illegal immigrants to get driver´s licenses. Davis signed the bill that does that last Friday.
The telephone poll of 505 likely voters was conducted during a 5-day period ending Sunday.
