Aides to Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger are demanding an apology for a remark Governor Gray Davis reportedly made. The Sacramento Bee reports Davis told a voter at a union rally yesterday that “you shouldn´t be governor unless you can pronounce the name of the state.”
The comment is apparently a reference to Schwarzenegger´s accent.
Schwarzenegger spokesman Todd Harris says Davis should apologize to the candidate and “to every other immigrant who comes to California in pursuit of the American dream.”
Davis spokesman Peter Ragone says he didn´t hear the alleged comment.
