Republican gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger calls himself the “poster child” for immigrants and suggests Democrats have no right to use immigration against him.
In an interview yesterday with The Associated Press, the Austrian-born actor said “I don´t need to get a lesson from anyone else about immigration because I’ve been there.”
Democratic Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante´s campaign has tried to link Schwarzenegger to anti-immigrant stances.
Schwarzenegger also responded to criticism that he has not offered enough specifics on issues. He said the public doesn´t want to hear about details. But, he said he knows “exactly what needs to be done.”
“We have to stop spending, we have to stop taxing people, we have to stop putting burdens on businesses,” Schwarzenegger said.
