Campaign finance records show Governor Davis tops the field of candidates in the recall money chase with Arnold Schwarzenegger close behind.
Records show Davis has raised $4.2 million in two separate committees to fight the recall, with most of it still in the bank. As the target of the recall, Davis is exempt from new campaign finance regulations that limit individual contributions to $21,200 dollars each.
Schwarzenegger´s official campaign committee, Californians for Schwarzenegger, raised $3.1 million during the period, $2 million of which he contributed himself.
The reports cover campaign finance activity from the beginning of the year through August 23.
