Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger laid out his positions on issues ranging from abortion to marijuana in a radio broadcast today. Schwarzenegger said he´s in favor of legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes and protecting a woman´s right to abortion. But he opposes legalizing gay marriage and granting drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.
The Republican candidate for governor in the October seventh recall election spoke out during a call to the syndicated Sean Hannity radio show — also broadcast live on Fox Television. It was the actor´s most detailed outline of positions in his bid to replace Democratic Governor Gray Davis.
Schwarzenegger´s positions on such issues as gay marriage and liberalized drivers´ licenses have nothing to do with ending the state´s financial crisis. He has said the state´s money woes would be his main concern as governor. But his views on the other topics could help him gain support from the conservative wing of the state Republican Party.
