A poll shows three of four likely voters in the October 7 recall election think California is heading in the wrong direction.
According to the Public Policy Institute of California, if the recall was held today, 58 percent would recall Governor Davis. That´s up from 50 percent last month.
Another 36 percent are opposed and 6 percent are undecided.
If he´s removed, 23 percent would replace Davis with Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger and 18 percent would choose Democratic Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante.
That´s somewhat different from a Field Poll released Saturday that showed Bustamante with support from 25 percent of voters to Schwarzenegger´s 22 percent.
