California´s Democratic congressional delegation is planning a conference call today to discuss the recall. That´s according to an aide to a member of the delegation who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The delegation has held several calls in recent weeks to discuss whether to endorse Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante´s proposal to vote against recalling Governor Davis, but for Bustamante as a replacement if the governor is recalled.
Meanwhile, at a town hall meeting last night in Los Angeles, Davis said he and Bustamante may work together during the campaign. Davis said his advisers´ early strategy to try to keep prominent Democrats off the recall ballot may have been wrong, saying Bustamante´s campaign could bring more anti-recall voters to the polls.
