We may know by the end of the day whether the California recall election goes ahead as scheduled October 7. A federal judge in Los Angeles says he´ll rule on a bid by the American Civil Liberties union to stop the election.
The ACLU claims the punch-card voting machines used in six California counties are prone to errors. Civil rights groups argued the vote could disenfranchise minority voters in four counties.
The Justice Department has already said the election would not violate the Voting Rights Act.
