Officials have announced plans for two debates among the top candidates from among the 135 people vying to replace Gray Davis as governor.
The debates are scheduled for September 9th in Los Angeles and September 17th in Sacramento. Organizers say leading contenders will be invited. The 90-minute September 17th debate, will feature the top-polling candidates in a moderated, round-table discussion. It will be broadcast on television and radio and include videotaped questions from voters. Candidates receiving at least ten percent support in any of three major polls before September 5th will be invited to participate.
