“Ah-nold” to Terminate Political Suspense

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to end days of suspense about his political aspirations next week. He’s going to appear on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” next Wednesday and announce whether he will run in the October 7 California gubernatorial recall election.

A Schwarzenegger adviser, who spoke on condition of anonymity, says the actor still hasn’t decided but is leaning against it. That could clear the way for former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. Riordan has said he’ll run if Schwarzenegger does not.

San Diego-area Congressman Darrell Issa, who funded a recall petition drive against Governor Davis, is the only declared Republican candidate.
