It´s D-Day for Governor Davis. It looks like enough signatures are in, and Secretary of State Kevin Shelley as early as today could announce the recall has qualified for the ballot.
A Los Angeles Times survey finds county elections officials have verified more than 1.1 million signatures. That´s far more than the roughly 900,000 required.
Elections officials in California´s 58 counties have until 5 p.m. today to finish verifying signatures through a random sampling process.
Davis says he isn´t worried. At an East Los Angeles health clinic yesterday he said he is confident voters “will not opt for a right-wing agenda over a progressive agenda.”
