Fire Burning In Southeast Sonora

Fire units and aircraft are working a quickly moving wildfire on 1700 block Murphy Grade Road and Old Wards Ferry Road southeast of Sonora.

A number of structures could be threatened from the fire first reported around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. Fire officials say the blaze has jumped Old Wards Ferry Road and is heading east towards Blue Bell Road. This fire has blackened 15 acres so far.

Additional firefighters, equipment and aircraft have been ordered. Tuolumne County Sheriff deputies have also been dispatched to the fire in case an evacuation is needed. At this time no evacuation has been ordered.
