State Senate Republicans to Offer Another Budget Plan

State senators will consider California´s budget crisis again today, although compromise seems unlikely.
Three days into the new fiscal year, the state still has no approved spending plan, meaning that vendors, schools, hospitals and some state workers are not getting paid.
Republicans are expected to offer their plans for solving the state´s $38 billion deficit. But Democrats have already said they will not support some of the proposals in the GOP plan, like deep cuts to education and public health.
Governor Davis has said he is optimistic that an agreement can be worked out by the end of next week.
