Modesto police have enlisted the help of homeless people as they continue their search for a pregnant woman missing since Christmas Eve.
Officers on horseback searched along the Tuolumne River yesterday, asking people encamped on its banks if they had seen 27-year-old Laci Peterson. They found no new leads.
At a volunteer command center, Peterson´s family, including her husband, Scott, joined others on the phone bank. Her family has not given out hope that Peterson will be found alive, even though police say they have shifted their focus to foul play.
Peterson, who is eight months pregnant, has not been seen since the morning of Christmas Eve. Her husband, Scott, reported her missing that evening when he returned home from a fishing trip.
