Laci´s Mom Trying To Be Optimistic
The mother of a missing Modesto woman says she€™s trying to be optimistic – despite the latest discovery.
Police say a sonar search of water at the Berkeley Marina turned up what they call a “suspicious object” – which could be a human body. Laci Peterson€™s husband Scott says he had been fishing at the marina before he reported his pregnant wife missing on Christmas Eve.
Laci€™s mother Sharon Rocha tells NBC€™s “Today” show she doesn´t feel what was found in the marina will end up being her daughter€™s body. Bad weather is forcing divers to postpone their recovery efforts until at least tomorrow.
Rocha says the family also doesn´t believe Scott Peterson had anything to do with his wife€™s disappearance, and describes him as being “devastated.” She says the couple had a happy marriage and loved each other. But she says she understands police are doing their job to rule out every possibility.
Modesto Police Chief Roy Wasden tells NBC that Scott hasn€™t been “eliminated” from the investigation.
