Cogdill Wants Active Forest Management

In the current issue of California Forest magazine, Republican state assemblyman Dave Cogdill writes the problem of catastrophic wildfire exists because forests have not been managed.

Cogdill — who represents Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, among others in the central Sierra — says he€™s now taking a more active role in educating legislators and laypeople on the reality of forest conditions.

Cogdill wants to return to a model of active forest management, which includes mechanical thinning, logging, prescribed burns and other management techniques.
