Feinstein Critical Of Bush Foreign Policy

California Senator Dianne Feinstein says the Bush administration€™s policies toward Iraq and North Korea have been contradictory and have left American allies increasingly confused and angered.

Feinstein made her comments in a speech to the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. She said during trips abroad in the past year, she€™s found that American allies feel the US has become increasingly unilateral and has shown disregard for treaties and international organizations.

She criticized the Bush administration€™s foreign policy rhetoric and statements for helping “fuel North Korea€™s paranoia and belligerence.” However, she applauded the administration€™s recent decision to open talks with North Korea, and she hopes it can similarly exercise caution in dealing with Iraq.
