Sonora Man Arrested After Crash

A Sonora man was arrested for felony drunk driving just after midnight Saturday following a traffic accident on Lyons Street near Bald Mountain Road.
Sonora Police report 22 year-old Burt Cavanagh was traveling at 60 miles-per-hour in a 2002 Pontiac Firebird when he allowed the car to drift off the road, striking and shearing off a power pole, and then rolling 115 feet down an embankment. Police say both airbags deployed but the car was totally destroyed.
Cavanagh was unhurt but his passenger, 23 year-old Shawn Harris also from Sonora, sustained injuries and was taken to Sonora Community Hospital.
