The Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies are checking on reports a man in a small boat with no lights was seen early today in the waters near the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
California Highway Patrol Officer Ricky Franklin says a report was received at 3:22 a.m. that a small blacked-out inflatable boat almost hit a tugboat near the span. The bridge links San Francisco with Oakland and communities in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Franklin says a helicopter, CHP units and the Coast Guard searched for the boat – but were unable to find anything. Franklin says CHP units have halted their portion of the search. The Coast Guard declined to comment.
