The Coast Guard is still investigating the report of a man wearing a wetsuit and buzzing around the San Francisco Bay in an inflatable boat without lights. This, as authorities received a call from a man who believes he might be the person the Coast Guard is looking for.
Coast Guard officials launched a search early Tuesday morning after a tugboat operator notified the Coast Guard that the blacked-out craft was heading toward the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The search lasted hours and turned up empty.
Coast Guard Lieutenant Ken Langford tells the Contra Costa Times that a man called Tuesday afternoon, saying he had crossed the Bay in the early morning hours and that the light on his craft was not working.
Langford says the man called after friends told him of the search of the bay.
