Longs Drug Stores says it plans to fire 170 employees as it struggles with financial problems.
A spokeswoman says most of the laid off workers are at the company´s Contra Costa County headquarters. The remaining layoffs will come primarily from other parts of California, where many of Long´s stores are located. The spokeswoman says all the lost jobs are administrative support positions.
